Portable Mural Panels

Recognizing a need for portable art, I developed portable mural panels that are water and weather-resistant. These panels are 30% lighter than plywood and are perfect for brightening up small interior and exterior spaces in homes and businesses alike.

ART AS THERAPY:
A PROJECT WITH AT-RISK YOUTH

As an innovative painter, I’m always looking for new ways to showcase mural art. At the Strickland Youth Center in Mobile, AL, I collaborated with at-risk youth to create three mural sculptures, resulting in 12 unique murals that tell the story of Mobile. This project taught the youth about art as therapy, the value of teamwork, and the importance of community outreach. We also explored conversations about running a small business, helping students identify ways they could turn their passions into careers. The participants gained valuable skills to help them navigate life and transition back into society. This project was proudly initiated by Judge Naman, who believes in art as a means to unite and uplift communities.

Augmented reality murals

Beyond Gravity, a Swiss rocket manufacturing company, reached out to me to create murals that blend art and technology. I designed a total of eleven murals for the company’s Decatur, AL location, three of which can be animated using a smartphone with augmented reality to tell the company’s story.

MURAL MENTORSHIP AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

I’m passionate about giving back and continue to lead several educational mural programs where local youth and community members come together to learn about and paint murals. For two summers in downtown Livingston, I worked with students from the University Charter School to create murals. Each of these murals has special details that were painted by the local youth. Their details and creative additions to the murals personalize these artworks to the community.  I’ve also led groups with the Rotary Youth Club in Point Clear, AL, and collaborated with at-risk youth at the Strickland Youth Center in Mobile, AL. I truly believe public art can change lives and communities!

Pensacola Mural Fest 2023

Pensacola Mural Fest 2023
Barrancas Ave
Pensacola, FL 32502

At the Pensacola Mural Fest, my mural tells the personal story of the family owners of Merchants Paper Co., a business with nearly a century of history. The retro-themed artwork features an old truck that has paper products flying out the back, a nod to the business’s longstanding presence in west Pensacola. The main character and mascot of the business is the family golden retriever Piper. You can meet her and pet her Inside the building during business hours. As an Alabama artist, I’ve added Camelia flowers for a personal touch to enhance the surroundings. Despite the massive project, I couldn’t be happier with the result. I am also the winner of the Peoples Choice award for this mural. Thank you Pensacola Mural Fest, Merchants Paper CO., And the people of West Pensacola.

Working on this project for the Rotary Club has been an enjoyable experience.

STarbucks and the rocket city

Starbucks
5909 US-72 E
Huntsville, AL 35806

I am beyond excited to finally share the mural I created for Starbucks and Starbucks Store Design Miami. This mural is for their new location in Huntsville, AL, the Rocket City. This mural pays tribute to the ongoing Artemis project in Huntsville that will soon put people on the moon. Artemis is the goddess of the moon and hunting. I created a deer out of coffee plants, jungle animals, and jungle materials to represent the goddess and the space bound project. The SLS Rocket is cradling this image and is going straight to the moon! This mural helps inform people about Starbucks and the amazing city of Huntsville!

Teaching civic ENGAGEMENT

104 Main St.
Livingston, AL 35470

Painting a mural can be an interactive and engaging way to introduce students to the concept of civic engagement. It allows them to actively participate in the beautification of their community, express their ideas, and learn valuable lessons about teamwork, responsibility, and the power of collective action. I partnered with the University Charter School to do just that. These students got to add their own designs into my mural and celebrate their small town on a large scale.

Alabama One Credit union - Building community

Bill Wells, President and CEO of Alabama One, said they are excited to be a part of the Alberta community to showcase the newest features of the facility.

"One thing we always wanted to showcase is our community partnership and we always thought a mural with this would be the best way to do it, plus investing heavily into technology with the newest technology branches so were glad to be apart of the Alberta community," Wells said.

Martin Houston, Chief Growth Officer at Alabama One, said the mural adds pride to the Alberta City area.

"We did this, not just because it's great public art, but because we're committed to being a part of the revitalization of this community and we want to show some pride to Alberta and Tuscaloosa and that's what this does," Houston said.

Put my small town on the map

Boligee Community Center
17282 County Road 20
Boligee, AL

Mayor Hattie Samuels contacted me to put her small town of about 300 people on the map. And I did! This mural is on Boligee’s new community center, which is housed in a building that once served as the local high school. The mural has two sides. the left side is depicting the area’s past by showing a railroad and 1920’s train. The right side compares the past to the area’s present, which is tied to the nearby I-20/59 interstate. Transportation has always been important to this small town. I show several other aspects of what makes life beautiful in Boligee. The people of Boligee care about their community and are taking active steps to move forward and bring positive change to this area. Murals are a great way to create community pride, recognizable, and memorable landmarks for all.

‘Take my picture here !‘ -interactive murals

Thomas Terrace
115 S Main St
Linden, AL 36748

Are you looking for an interactive mural? This mural is a great photo opportunity to pose with wings of an eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly. You can literally step into this image and be surrounded by Alabama camellias and a bright beautiful Alabama landscape. This mural is unique because I had to incorporate a large metal beam into the design. Murals are a great way transform an area, bring joy to any town, and encourage people to post about your location on social media.

BRCC -Expressing company values

Black Rifle Coffee Company
5105 S Power Rd
Mesa, AZ 85212

Murals offer a powerful and creative medium for companies to express their core values. For example, BRCC (Black Rifle Coffee Company) has successfully utilized murals by incorporating key elements and symbols to visually communicate their mission, vision, and guiding principles as a veteran-owned company. A mural serves as a daily reminder for employees and stakeholders, reinforcing the company's values and fostering a sense of shared purpose and identity. By harnessing the potential of murals as a visual storytelling tool, companies can effectively express their core values and establish a meaningful connection with their audience. This project was in collaboration with artist
Taylor Victoria Nelson.

transforming community spaces

Thomas Terrace
115 S Main St
Linden, AL 36748

This mural is in Linden’s Thomas terrace, a new community space downtown. This space, which once was a collapsed building, hosts live music, food trucks, and other events and activities. My mural depicts a porch, rocking chairs, 11 hidden butterflies, and a whimsical landscape. The porch is an iconic southern gathering place and I hope to inspire the community to make new connections and memories in this space. Come gather at the Thomas terrace in Linden! this job was with the Marengo County Extension and ALProHealth Grant Project.
